Hit and Run Driver Sought

Jeffrey Ackley, 43-years-old, died on September 4, 2016 after being hit by a car in Marion County, Florida. He was discovered on the should of CR25 at approximately 9:00 p.m. according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Investigators think that he was hit by a Ford because of parts found at the scene. They also suggest that the vehicle involved in this crash is expected to have significant front end damage to the left side.

Jeffrey Ackley pedestrian accident September 2016

A vehicle that has damage on the left side was either traveling on the wrong side of the road, the vehicle went off the road to the right, or the pedestrian was in the middle of the roadway at the time of the collision. Pedestrians walking along the side of the road (regardless of which direction they are facing) usually get hit by the right side of the vehicle. If the vehicle veered to the right (causing left side damage), I would have expected law enforcement to mention that fact.

This accident may be a wrongful death claim if facts surface in the investigation that show that the driver had an opportunity to avoid hitting Ackley by either where the impact occurred in the roadway or by paying closer attention to the roadway.
