Toyota Recall For Loose Rear Suspension
Toyota Motor Corporation has recalled over 337,000 vehicles due to loose nuts on the rear suspensions of certain vehicles. The vehicles impacted are listed below:
Lexus HS250h 2010
Toyota RAV4 2006-2011
Toyota claims that rust can build up on the suspension arm threat if the nuts for the rear wheel alignment are not fully tightened at the factory. When that occurs, the suspension arm could separate from the car and cause a loss of control. Toyota is replacing both rear suspension arm assemblies free of charge. For many of these vehicles, this is the third recall.
Having a rear suspension arm separate, particularly at highway speed, can present a serious risk of injury or death. If you have one of these vehicles, you should have the vehicle serviced as soon as possible. Below is a diagram of the part in question. Those nuts and bolts to the rear suspension arm are critical to driveability of the vehicle.
