Nicholas Ibrahim died as a result of being struck while pulled off the side of the Florida Turnpike in southern Osceola County. The accident happened at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Saturday when Abdul Aziz Al Enezi had pulled over to change drivers. Ibrahim was struck and killed by the driver's door of their vehicle when a trailer on a passing vehicle struck him and also the driver's side of their vehicle. Ibrahim was a plastic surgeon from Lebanon. He was on his way from Miami to Disney World.

Florida Turnpike Nicholas Ibrahim Accident August 27, 2016

Pulling over on any major highway can be a very scary proposition. We don't know why they did it except to say that they were probably tired and it would be unsafe to keep going. Otherwise, they likely would have waited until the next rest area or service station to change drivers. Regardless of why they pulled over, drivers going down the roadway are required to avoid a collision with them. I also have to assume that Ibrahim and Enezi pulled off the roadway past the solid white line. Based on this assumption, the vehicle pulling the trailer would have illegally crossed over the solid white line and failed to maintain a single lane of travel. Doing so is negligence under Florida law and makes Ibrahim's death an actionable wrongful death. As a plastic surgeon, Ibrahim likely had a significant income and the damages to his family are financially devastating in addition to emotionally devastating.
