A Saturday morning car accident on US Highway 17-92 resulted in the death of one person while another person is in critical condition. From the statement from the police, it sounds like someone was going the wrong way on the roadway. While it is possible that a vehicle headed the right way on the road was speeding, it is more likely that the wrong way driver was also the one speeding so early in the morning. The circumstances of this accident should have triggered law enforcement to investigate for DUI. While an accident such as this one may not be the result of a DUI, it certainly has some telltale signs of it. Depending on the facts of this accident, this accident might be a wrongful death and may become a DUI manslaughter case if the driver who died was obeying the law.

The Florida Highway Patrol has a program called "Stay Right at Night" to spread awareness of wrong way accidents that occur at night and hopefully avoid the consequences of a head-on collision.
