Accident Near Toll Plaza
A serious car accident was reported on SR528 westbound near mile marker 26. This occurred near the toll plaza for Dallas Road.
From the photograph, it appears that two vehicles are involved and slid off the roadway after colliding at or near the left hand lane going westbound. This accident seems almost like a collision on a NASCAR track when one racer moves over in front of another racing causing the front quarter panel of one car to hit the rear quarter panel of the other. This causes the car in front to lose control and frequently causes a spin.
An accident such as this one is likely to have been caused by a sudden lane change. Section 316.085, Florida Statutes, covers improper lane changes as below:
No vehicle shall be driven from a direct course in any lane on any highway until the driver has determined that the vehicle is not being approached or passed by any other vehicle in the lane or on the side to which the driver desires to move and that the move can be completely made with safety and without interfering with the safe operation of any vehicle approaching from the same direction.
