Care on Interstate-4 Explodes Into Flames
A car in the eastbound lanes of Interstate-4 burst into flames near State Road 535. The vehicle does appear to have been in an accident prior to the fire.
This vehicle looks to be a minivan, and in my opinion, a Honda Odyssey. In 2014, Honda recalled 886,815 Odysseys with model years 2005-2010 for fire risk. A four door Honda Odyssey was made through 2008. The recall covered a fuel pump strainer that was discovered to deteriorate under exposure to acidic chemical typically found in car wash formulas and in the environment. When these acidic conditions were present in combination with a high ambient temperature (as we do in Florida summers), Honda found that cracks in the fuel strainer cover can result and increase the risk of fire. No fires had been reported in 2014 when the recall was made.
